On April 10, Bucha will launch a separate collection of packaging waste system

On April 10, the Ukrainian Packaging and Environmental Coalition (UKRPEC) and the Mayor of Bucha, Anatolii Fedoruk, will present a system of separate collection of packaging waste in the Bucha community.

The project involves the installation of more than 200 specialized containers, the organization of a collection system, sorting, and recycling. The initiative aims to protect the environment from pollution and will reduce the community’s overall waste disposal costs, as the amount of domestic waste will be significantly reduced.

The concept of separate collection of packaging waste based on the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR) aligns with the practices of EU member states. Its implementation is one of the prerequisites for Ukraine’s European integration. Bucha’s experience will be taken into account in the implementation of a similar system at the national level in Ukraine.

The initiative was made possible through the effective partnership between the Bucha community and UKRPEC, which provides comprehensive organizational and financial support.
